Chillicothe, OH (9-25-09) - Jason Shank- O’Reilly All Star Late Model Series Director After a full season of O’Reilly All Star Late Model Series action, it all comes down to…a cup, the First Annual Dirt Track World Cup that is. The Late Model Classic, to be held at Jeff Schrader’s KC Raceway in Chillicothe, OH, pays $20,000 to the winner and will decide the ASLMS Championship which has turned into a vintage battle between Bear Lake, PA’s Boom Briggs and Titusville, PA’s Robbie Blair. The difference between the two going into the ‘Classic’ is a mere six points with Briggs in front. Briggs, who drives his family owned Rocket Chassis powered by Custom Racing Engines and equipped with Ohlins Shocks by GW Performance and American Racer Tires. Boom’s sponsors include Horton Equipment, Tony Spec Lumber, Meridian Hardwoods, Sorbera Family Chiropractic, CJ's Auto Transport, Briggs Transport, Sunset Dairy, Lias Tire and American Racer Tires has had a stranglehold on the ASLMS points lead from day one after winning the Series’ first two events of the season at Lernerville Speedway on April 17 and KC Raceway on April 18. Briggs picked up a third series victory at Butler (MI) Motor Speedway on May 30 and at that time held a 50 point lead. Since then, Robbie Blair and his Specialty Products, Bossard’s Auto Parts, Maloney Tool and Mold, Armstrong Lumber, Chelby’s Tanning & Hair Garage, Moody & Son Welding, Custom Racing Engines, Genesis Shocks, Hoosier Racing Tire sponsored Rocket Chassis have been chipping away at that point lead starting with Blair’s win on June 14 at Robbie’s home track Tri-City Speedway in Franklin, PA. Blair has been among the top-five finishers in three of the last six ASLMS races and in the top-ten in five of those same six races. Just once in those six shows has Briggs finished ahead of Rob. With $20,000 on the line and the right to be crowned 2009 O’Reilly All Star Late Model Series Champion, things are bound to get extremely interesting at ‘Ohio’s Fastest 3/8 Mile Dirt Track’. The battle for the championship title is not the only ASLMS points battle going into the ‘Classic’. Positions three through five are also all very close with ‘Hot Rod’ Conley holding a 34 point edge over fourth place ‘Superfly’ Coleby Frye while Jared Hawkins is only four points behind Frye for fourth. 38 points separates the three going into the $20,000 to-win ‘Classic’ weekend which will also set up for some fantastic racing. Jeff Schrader and KC Raceway are also offering what is being dubbed as the ‘Front Row Challenge’. The pole driver will get the first option to the bonus but if he declines the challenge will go to the driver on the outside of the front row. This is what will happen: The driver will go to the 26th position and if they can come from the back to win, the driver will receive the $20,000 winner prize AND a $40,000 bonus. If the driver makes it to second place they will receive a $10,000 bonus. If they only make it to third place, they will receive a $5000 bonus. The Dirt Track World Cup weekend kicks off on Thursday, Oct 1 as the UMP style Modifieds hit the track for their qualifying events. On Friday, Oct 2 the ASLMS Lat Models hit the speedway with their SPEEDWRAPZ Time Trials and the Hampton Inn & Suites of Chillicothe Heat Races. The 410 Super Sprints are also on the card for a full program. The ‘Classic’ will conclude on Saturday, Oct 3 with the ASLMS Late Model B-Main’s, the $3,000 to-win 30-lap Modified Feature, a $3,000 to win Non-Qualifiers Race for the ASLMS Late Models, and then the $20,000 to-win 100-lap ‘Classic’.
